People do not have to build a time machine to go back to the year 1951. Instead, they can head over to Snow White Drive-In, a restaurant that draws rave reviews for its food and atmosphere. According to a report in the Wilson County Post, Snow White Drive-In is the oldest restaurant in Wilson County, and it has barely changed since selling its first order of four burgers, fries, and drinks, for a grand total of two dollars and twelve cents.
A History of Snow White
Snow White Drive-In was originally built by Wesley and Myrtle Vantrease, and the restaurant did not have a dining area at the time. Instead, people walked up to the window to order or they blinked their lights. Through the years the restaurant has had a variety of owners until it was finally sold to the Wyatt family approximately two decades ago.
Hungry for More
Even though the restaurant has been around since the 1950s, it seems that locals simply can not get enough of the food and nostalgic feeling they get when they visit Snow White Drive-In. As a matter of fact, the passion among people in Wilson County runs so deep that they went to bat for the restaurant in a big way nearly 10 years ago. In 2014, the property owner had plans to raze the building and turn the property into a parking lot. Upon hearing these intentions, locals made their voices heard and Snow White Drive-In was saved, and it continues to thrive. Grandparents and parents bring kids here. Couples visit on first dates. And there are quite a number of tourists who visit so they can get a taste of what this time capsule has to offer.
The Menu
Current owner Sandra Wyatt-Moore, a registered nurse who holds a degree in organizational management, never expected she would one day be the proprietor of Snow White Drive-In. She frequented the restaurant when her grandparents brought her as a child. They are known for long-time favorites such as burgers, barbecue, onion rings, and ice cream, and the restaurant has added some meat and three items that have become popular in recent years.

Not much has changed at Snow White Drive-In since it first opened in the 1950s. The menu is nearly the same as the look and feel of the building.
